Main professional organisation of psychiatrists in the United Kingdom, and responsible for representing psychiatrists, undertaking psychiatric research and for providing public information about mental health problems. Submitted evidence expressing concern that the press rarely gave balanced accounts of issues relating to mental illness, that journalists hounded psychiatrists for information, and that there was a general unwillingness on the part of the press to try to understand mental health issues.
